Dr. Cohen graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He studied in London, England at the renowned Imperial College of Science and Technology under an Athlone Scholarship. A Master's Degree in Medical Engineering was obtained, with research performed in Biomedical Engineering.

He went on to attain a medical degree establishing a career in orthopedic surgery, highlighted by expertise in minimally invasive joint replacement surgery of hip and knee - including resurfacing, partial replacement and total joint management.

Utilizing 3D computer modeling for knee replacement, he uses a technique which customizes each knee to the individual patient. Most of the surgery is in the preparation stage before the patient is in the operating room. This allows shorter surgery times and quicker recovery. He has been recognized as a leader in this type of knee replacement nationally. Staying at the edge of orthopedic joint replacement and the latest in post surgical pain management techniques has allowed shorter hospital stays with the potential for day-surgery joint replacement for young, healthy patients, as well as the use of computerized navigation to optimize implant position and expedite recovery.

He specializes in the latest advances is arthroscopic assisted knee resurfacing, designed specifically to treat early-stage arthritis. Along with key surgeons from around the country, Dr. Cohen was one of the first orthopedic surgeons to use new partial knee replacement technology and is in the elite group of surgeons using this new joint preserving option and surgical pain management known as Exparel. He is also a Medical consultant to BioflightVR, a California-based medical technology company.
