Physician Bio

Dr. Chris Thompson is a board certified cardiologist with Heart & Vascular Center. In addition to general cardiology, his areas of expertiseinclude cardiac catheterization, cardiac rehabilitation and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Thompson is one of the first invertentional cardiologists in Lake Charles specializing in miniminally invasive valve replacement.called Ttranscatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) with the Edwards SAPIEN 3 valve. This procedure is approved for use in patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis when open heart surgery would be too high of a risk.

Dr. Thompson is also certified to use the 360 Coronary Orbital Atherectomy System. The OAS is a device used for the treatment of a severely calcified narrowing of a coronary artery. The OAS is a system intended to facilitate stent delivery. The System is used in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) who are acceptable candidates stenting due to severely calcified coronary artery lesions that have not been previously treated.
